yo! i’m here! ya it’s interesting that sometimes you can reconnect with some long lost friend easily but sometimes fail to. i guess thats what 緣份 mean. anyway, i guess you’re just not that close with mar# before, thats why you find it weird la. no big deal. i bumped into him at central before when i got lost for an art exhibition and turned out he was lost too, then we had a...
I met with Sandy and Marcus last night. It was weird how although it is inevitable that people change over time, some become closer to you, some otherwise.

dear jane,
don’t be so angry nor frustrated. just make sure you don’t become like them…people like them are what’s out of your control, and what makes it so difficult to make this world a better place. but see - we can do a lot, too. we can make sure we don’t make things worse x

Teachers wannabes
had a lunch chat with some education final year students who are volunteers at the park yesterday. we discussed a bit on experiential language learning which was my PGDE interview question. it seems that most of the students prefer teaching with textbooks such as Longman. But i think experiential learning could be more interesting. isnt it better to learn what’s the most familiar to them...

My Obsession with Work
Hi there. Pardon my lack of posts recently but my workload has been picking up so rapidly in the last two weeks. It’s week 4 only and I need to start looking at three class projects already.
Sometimes I wonder if working 9-5 (or later) is gonna be better or worse. I am assuming that after work you don’t think about work but my student life in the last few years has been the complete...
Dressing up
I had to go to a networking breakfast event this morning. Since I was representing my company, I had to dress a little more formal than usual.
I wore a dress that has sheath cut and is sleeveless. Almost covering my knees. Grey. Paired with flats.
I felt so out of place taking the train from Che Kung Temple station, switching station at Kowloon Tong, taking subway all the way to Central. The...
part time narrator for a decade
hey you know what, i just heard from my parttime colleague that there’s another colleague here at the park who has been working as parttime narrator for a decade. he/she is a fund manager working 9-5 and thinks it’s interesting to talk to people at the park on weekend.
i got what you mean cause i have the same feeling too… don’t feel like stuck at home and wanna meet more people. my mom’s just watching tv, brother playing computer and there’s not much interaction and we dont have any new or exciting stuff coming up. shopping malls are boring, spend $ when we go out. it’s better to get a part time job.
i guess some of my colleagues...

hello all. i’m back.
i took an event technician part-time job this weekend..everyone asked me if i needed money and why i’d want to work on weekends. I just thought it’s so much nicer than hanging out with people that I would be obliged to hang out with if i was free and if they asked me to go out with them. the impression I got from a lot of people I hung out with recently is...
you know what, my ex-colleague could not get the fun part of working near Star Street at Wan Chai either. When I went out for lunch with him and past by those stylish stops around the place, he just said “oh they are too expensive” and said “you are so high class”. come on, we just have 1 hour of lunch before we got stuck with the computer/ boring stuff again, why cant we...

Back AGAIN
I just had a quick consultation this morning with a director at the career center and she gave me some really helpful advice on how to deal with my situation.
I have asked to reply later this week about my summer internship with the air group, but it’s very likely I am gonna accept it. Which means I will be spending this summer in San Francisco!! Do you have friends in SF that I can hang...
I sang k with another friend of mine whom I met last summer on Saturday.
I used to sing with the so-called confidence before but after not singing for 2 years, I realized the passion is fading away….I was very proud of singing in the choir for almost a decade. But it seems like my voice is getting worse and a bit strange.
Pop songs are our collective memory but singing with different...

I’m going to sing K tomorrow.
It’s strange how I turn from loving to organize a massive group karaoke event (you should remember those days…I can’t even imagine myself being that me anymore), to finding karaoke pointless and silly and expensive, to now, when it’s become an emotional outlet. I almost prepared (ok, I did) for it - I have been working hard to pick up...
Hey Hywel, I think most importantly is not to compare yourself with others. Destiny brings people to different path/ challenges, just believe in yourself. I think the situation of last year’s graduates won’t affect you much since different people are looking for different things/ jobs.
I’ve had some trainings at the marine theme park these days for my part-time job and met a few...
Dear H,
Interviews are also a good way for you to get more in-depth understanding of what real institutions (sorry i really can’t say schools are real haha) actually do. Do you think you get a better idea of what you might want to be doing after the several interviews you had?
As I said over gchat, job hunting/interviewing is really mostly about putting yourself into the employer’s...
I'm BACK
Pardon me for the late response. I just had a phone interview tonight and finally have some time to write about the whole internship searching process. So far I have had three interviews (face-to-face, on-campus and phone) and all turned out to be pretty positive experiences:
1. Face-to-Face Interview with a Water Agency An hour-long interview with three employees from two departments. They were...

waaaaa J so you’re taking part-time job instead? If you do start working there, we should start a writing project! You can tell me about what you see and do, and I will be your ghost-writer :D
And H how did your interview go? Did you end up following my fashion advice and wearing blue? haha.
R
hey! What’s the position that you are going to interview for? To start with, give a good self introduction. Then, for the trophy parts like what you’ve achieved, you can tell them the results with quantifying terms. Any difficulties that you have encountered, say how you solved them. Think about your strengths, weakness and illustrate with examples. GOOD LUCK!
I just had an interview...
Interview Wisdom
Gals, I’m having my first face-to-face interview with the water agency in two days. Any quick words of advice from interview experts like you two?
Don't kick me out of our little club -
I started this blog anyway! But hmm I started working this past Wednesday. It’s a French recruiting company, and I work as a researcher in there. Basically stalking people on Linkedin, strategically of course, and find potential candidates who might be interested in positions we are recruiting for. My colleagues are all French speakers, they are very considerate and will speak Eng in my...
Dear J,
How exactly was the interview for the HR post? I think if you did other parts well, they won’t mind too much about what you said you want for salary and just give you an offer…what did you say about it tho :P
And for the tutor thing - that guy is my dad’s colleagues. He’s basically over protective and concerned, but he doesn’t really know what he wants, so...
just finished my interview as HR. the interviewers are the most sensible people that I have met so far. 2 Chinese men working on training and development. they have been asking questions decently and with respect. but i guess i might have flunked the part about salary haha….will see how they think about me. and seems like they have heard the names of my previous bosses. will see how it...
And yes 三十而立 would be a pretty good goal for the next seven years.
Birthday dreams are not supposed to be shared. I guess my top goal right now is getting a full-time job in my industry so I’ll know if this major is meant for me or not.
BTW I got my first interview offer for a summer internship with a water agency nearby. Will go there next Tuesday. Birthday power!
ya!!! tell us what’s your dream!
bytheway, i just realized that 23 really isnt a small number….
子曰:“吾十有五而志于学,三十而立,四十而不惑,五十而知天命,六十而耳顺,七十而从心所欲,不逾矩。”, you still have 7 years to prepare for your 30! OMG a really exciting journey ah ha!

H you should share your birthday wish/goal for the year being 23!!

I'm bursting
I ate so much this weekend that you won’t have a clue how full and how over food I am at this point in my life. I really shouldn’t take this kind of weekend as a norm. I’d literally burst before I go broke.
(Friday)
Korean food - bibimbap, kimchi pancake, beef soup Sake bar Vietnamese rice noodle cakes and fried pork chop
(Saturday) Tea Buffet at Macro Polo Hotel Spare ribs...
My 2 Cents
1. Ruby congratz your level of idleness will take a dip very soon. Plus no more crazy parenting control.
2. Jane what courses are you taking in the coming fall? I thought you’re gonna be done with your master’s soon?
3. Jane I second Ruby. The tutor is making (probably much more) money off your brother’s test papers so I don’t see anything inherently wrong with getting...

Dear Jane
1. Tang’s news is annoying the heck out of me. Couldn’t bear watching the news nowadays.
2. Job #1 gave me an offer on Friday!! Will start working next week :)
3. I think you should remain flexible if you do like the job nature of what you’re interviewing for…did you pay deposit for your course in Sept yet? Is that leading to something you would want to do more than what...

can anyone give me some advice?

Bytheway, you can kill time watching Tang’s news. That’s too funny.
ya Wan Chai and Sheung Wan are nice places! Hey Mr XYZ, I think you will miss home after watching this video about Sheung Wan from Monocle http://www.monocle.com/sections/affairs/Web-Articles/Neighbourhood-Sheung-Wan/
Ruby, I think #1 sounds quite good for you.
I had an interview as Assistant Translator at PR agency on Wednesday. That was a nice experience for me to test myself whether I am...

(Jane, where have you been? Hywel advocates sprinkling idleness, but it looks like you’re drown somewhere…)
My big toes and the front parts of my feet are overreacting towards my epic interview tour around Wan Chai and Sheung Wan yesterday (Hywel, I like these places so much, and I’m amazed by how I like them more as I grow older. You are so lucky to have sorta grown up around...
Just finished slacking
Ruby you need to sprinkle life with idleness. Jane’s link has caused me to spend the last hour watching youtube videos of Wyman’s concert (you should do the same if you need ideas to kill time). You just need to know that at some point you need to stop and go do more meaningful things like taking that online quiz (or in your case more job hunting).
I will now go take that online quiz.
